Hong Kong wants democracy, China wants Hong Kong

According to a recent story, Hong Kong is pressing quite hard for democracy and independence from China.
Over the last several years, China has been attempting to assimilate Hong Kong, and its incredible wealth. China has been trying to suppress Hong Kong's democracy in its efforts to realize the "one China" policy (which means annexing Hong Kong and Taiwan).

Many Hong Kong voters clearly were frustrated by Beijing's recent decision that ruled out full democracy in the near term despite widespread demands for universal suffrage.

Both anexees have been quite reluctant to give up their liberties (along with independence). China has even conducted massive military war games within sight of the regions. The military display for Hong Kong featured submarines, frigates, and a few new missile destroyers (destroyers that shoot missiles, which are far superior to WWII-style artillery). Taiwan's show was joint naval operation between France and China, and China also hosted a massive "war game" simulation of how an invasion of Taiwan might take place.

Overall, this is a good sign for a full democracy in Hong Kong, which was severely set back by Beijing’s refusal to allow voters to appoint any more than half of Hong Kong’s 60-member legislature.
With any luck, China will not be able to assimilate Hong Kong, and the Asian nation will be forced to turn its policy to “one China, one Hong Kong, and one Taiwan”.
